DJEEO Education - Teaching combined with exercise and motivated pupils


DJEEO Education - A unique learning game. DJEEO Education is a GPS-based teaching platform that can be used with all subjects. With DJEEO Education you get curricular learning, health through exercise, motivated pupils and personal development for the pupils and older students as well.

A game works as a virtual orienteering competition with built in curricular assignments. DJEEO Education can be used from 10 years and up.

Exercise

Studies show that children and young people move too little. The Health Protection Agency documRunning agentsents that, 45% of all 11 to 15 year olds are physically inactive. The lack of exercise is a problem right from the beginning of adolescence, where other things rather than sport comes into the picture.

DJEEO Education is ideal for the audience who especially like PC gaming and the internet. By using DJEEO Education, students are provided with a gaming platform which promotes exercise and learning in a motivating manner.


Everyone is activated

DJEEO Education stimulates learning through movement and gets pupils to either walk or run distances of 2,5 to 5 km, in an ordinary teaching session.

In total during a game, a class of 20 pupils will together run approx. 60 km, or the equivalent of burning 3600 kcal (60 kcal/km) or the same as 17 litres of a soft drink.

 


 

Learning with DJEEO

DJEEO Education is a versatile training aid that makes it possible to involve both technical and non technical aspects of teaching. DJEEO Education is a groundbreaking new way to do group exercises through games, and contains elements such as the Active Learning and Cooperative Learning.

 Learning in a DJEEO game is determined by the teacher's goals, facilitation and evaluation of the game, and may fall within the following areas.

In connection with learning styles / multiple intelligences, DJEEO Education can be used in the following manners:

Visual learners are motivated through the work with maps, navigation, and image functions.

Auditory learners are motivated through communication and the focus during the game.

Kinesthetic learners are motivated through movement outdoor and the dynamics of the game.

Tactile learners are motivated through the game using locally based tasks as well as working with the keyboard and the mouse on the PC.

Motivated Pupils

Teachers who use DJEEO Education experience a remarkably high level of commitment and concentration among the pupils when playing.

DJEEO Education provides for both experiences and variation during school days, as it is markedly different from the traditional blackboard teaching. The pupils experience a game-like universe that is both physical and virtual.

At the same time, DJEEO Education provides students familiar elements such as gaming, mobile and PC into teaching. Last but not least, it increases the competition amongst the pupils to score the most points and brings excitement into the classroom, when they constantly see the results live.

An example: Lisa Houkjær, a teacher at Krogårdsskolen in Greve Denmark and award winner within science education. Lisa uses DJEEO games as an appetizer for academic subjects, and has experienced how her students suddenly find a topics interesting via DJEEO.

Winners of the DJEEO game are not necessarily the most studious students, as the game also involves communication, co-operation and management skills which can be key to winning.

Thereby, students are more equal when playing as they are drawing upon their own unique skills. DJEEO motivates virtually all student types.
